Tim Orlando asked:

If you are a teenager or young adult, I am sure you would have noticed that only a small percentage of people are blessed with a perfect and radiant skin. You would agree with me, that not only are the majority of people not endowed with beautiful skin, a large number of young adults and teenagers are afflicted with the “monster” called acne.

Most dermatologists seem to conclude that more than 80% of the human population is prone to having the acne problems. Ever since the mass media decided to tout that only appearance matters in everything, there has been an increase in the number of adult acne treatments in the market recently. It also looks like products, which contain some form of herbal ingredients is demanded by a large number of teenage and adult acne sufferers. Before you go buying and using any remedy you should identify the type of acne problem that you have.

We all tend to feel that only the fat, pus-filled pimples that appear on our face is acne. In case you may not know, your acne problem is not only restricted to having pimples. If you suffer from the mild type, you might not be aware of other types of acne. On some occasions you might notice some bumps developing on your back or necks, such bumps are due to your acne condition.

Even though all kinds of acne problems start in the same way, which is having too much oil also known as sebum, which breeds bacteria, blocks the hair pores and forms skin inflammation which appear as bumps. The different kinds all vary in their seriousness and appearance. In this article let us classify the kinds of acne into three: acne rosacea, acne vulgaris, and the serious type.

The commonest kind of acne, which is acne vulgaris, is divided into the mild and the serious categories. The first classification of acne vulgaris is the whiteheads. These are formed due to the mixture of bacteria, too much sebum (oil) and dead cells. Whiteheads do not turn into brownish color chiefly because they are not really exposed and they are confined in the hair pores, which mean they cannot oxygenate. However they do turn into a yellowish lump on some occasions. The whiteheads that you see on your skin could also occur due to frequent cellular exfoliation that can block your hair pores.

Another classification of acne vulgaris is the blackheads, which are mixture a of dead cells, bacteria and sebum (oil). The difference between them and whiteheads is that they are only moderately blocked in the follicle. Because of that, blackheads are exposed to oxygen and as a result they turn to dark spots. Blackheads take longer time to be eliminated as when compared to whiteheads. Other acne vulgaris’s types are papules and pustules. Papules are recognized as small bumps that are usually inflamed. Never attempt to ***** these bumps as the may result in scars. Meanwhile, pustules are large, infected, pus containing bumps on the skin. You should never ***** these bumps also as they can cause severe acne scars.

Very serious types of acne vulgaris include cyst and nodules, which are larger than the types mentioned previously and are very painful. Nodules are big lumps located underneath the surface of the skin, while cysts are lumps filled with pus with an average size of 5mm. Cases of cystic and nodules should be attended to by a medical practitioner to prevent severe scarring and increase of the acne lesions.

The second kind of acne which is rosacea is like vulgaris; but one difference is that it only occupies a third of the face’s middle part, usually the forehead, nose and cheeks. A large number of people with rosacea are women in their 30s, but it seems men are usually the ones with the severe cases. It is usually characterized with rashes, swollen skin and in some cases; the blood vessels may become visible. Even though rosacea is usually mistaken for vulgaris, you should visit a dermatologist if you are afflicted with any on the above condition, in order to prevent it from become more serious like rhinophyma.

Individuals who suffer from any of the mentioned kind of acne usually experience a lot physical and emotional pain mostly caused by a number of embarrassing situations. Aside all the previously mentioned types there are more serious types of acne which include pyoderma faciale, acne fulminans, gram-negative folliculitus, and acne conglobata.

Pyoderma faciale is characterized by the severe types of nodules, lesions and pustules that are in large numbers on an afflicted person’s face. These “monsters” leave very ugly scars. This condition is prone to women aged between 20 and 40. Although these condition cause damage to an individual, they usually end in less than a year.

Acne fulminans is more prone to young men and it is usually accompanied with joint fever and ache. A person with this type has an extreme case of nodulocystic and is prone to severe scarring.

Meanwhile gram-negative folliculitus is classified as a bacterial complication of pustules and cysts usually resulting from an extensive treatment of acne vulgaris. This is a special case of acne and doctors and dermatologists do not know which of the sexes are prone to this classification of acne.

Finally acne conglobata is more common in young men aged 18 to 30. It is recognized as large lesions with blackheads occurring on the buttocks, back, chest, face, thighs and upper arms. This particular type causes severe and sometimes long-lasting damages on the skin, which include large and deep scars. Sufferers of this acne problem should run to a dermatologist for help.

Whatever type of acne you afflicted with, acne is a stumbling block to achieving the level of self-esteem and self-confidence you desire. The best time to treat your acne problem is now, in order to avoid any future damage on your skin. There are quite a number of acne treatments available, but there are only a few, which actually give excellent results. A skin care product like Clear pores is a very good option as it combats the root of cause all acne problems, which is usually due to chemical and hormonal imbalances in the body. Other options are the Acnezine and the Healthy pores acne system, which also include herbal supplements that fight acne internally and externally.

For more information on how you can rid your skin from all sorts of acne problems , visit adult acne treatment Now!!!

Donald Saunders asked:

Before you can treat your acne it is vital to know just what sort of acne you have because, despite what many of us think, acne can be more than a simple case of spots caused by trapped skin oil (sebum), dead skin cells, white blood cells and bacteria.

Acne is often classified by grade starting with grade I which includes mild, non-inflamed forms of acne such as blackheads and whiteheads. From here we move to grade II acne which involves cases of acne with a large number of blackheads and whiteheads and generally also includes papules or pustules which are mildly inflamed.

A papule is a small lesions, or break in the skin, which appears as a bump that rises above the surface of the skin and is normally smaller than about 5 mm across. A pustule is very similar to a papule but is pus-filled and contains a mixture of dead skin cells, white blood cells and bacteria.

Next on the scale come grade III acne which is simply a more severe case of grade II acne in which the papules or pustules are red, larger and more numerous.

Finally, we come to grade IV acne which is the most severe case of acne and includes nodules and cysts. Inflammation in the case of grade IV acne is normally wide spread and grade IV acne generally encompasses more than simply the face.

Grade I acne, which includes the common form of mild acne known as acne vulgaris, is not normally difficult to treat and can generally be cleared up with over-the-counter medications.

A more severe form of acne is acne congoblata which is characterized by heavy inflammation and deep abscesses which can frequently result in scarring and other forms of skin damage. Inflamed and often painful nodules form around comedones (a medical term for mild acne spots) and will often grow until they spontaneously discharge pus. This type of acne can often result in keloid-type scarring.

Acne fulminans is another form of acne in which nodules will often ulcerate, resulting in a painful and recurrent form of acne. Sufferers can also sometimes run a fever and experience aching joints and treatment with corticosteroids or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs is normally required. Such drug treatments are however designed to treat the symptoms of this form of acne and not its underlying cause.

Continuing on up the scale some people will develop nodulocystic acne. Unusual cysts (red bumps caused by severe inflammation) form and occasionally they become so numerous and appear close enough together to create a fairly large area of inflammation. Nodulocystic acne can form small tunnels below the surface of the skin allowing infection to spread easily and quickly. This form of acne is generally treated using antibiotics and a commonly used drug treatment is isotretinoin, which many people will know by the name of Accutane.

Finally, we come to gram-negative folliculitis which occurs when hair follicles become infected. Bacteria growing at the base of a hair follicle cause the body to respond by sending white blood cells to fight the infection and this can occasionally result in a deep eruption which requires special treatment. This particular form of acne is often resistant to treatment with antibiotics and indeed the condition can sometimes by causes by using antibiotics to treat other forms of acne.

Although extremely common, acne is not the simple condition which many of us have always thought it to be and it is not always a simple case of buying a cream from the corner drugstore to treat it. So, as soon as acne appears pop along to your doctor, or better still a professional dermatologist, and get a diagnosis so that you can knock it on the head with the correct treatment right from the outset.

Ibrahim Machiwala asked:

Scars caused by acne are much more common than doctors once believed; most people will have acne scars that are mild. However, some will have scars that look significant even to others. The best approach is prevention and to treat acne right away as sometimes even mild acne can cause scarring, this can minimize the risk of permanent acne scars. Acnezine is the best possible way to treat acne scars. Acne leaves behind different types of acne scars.

Acne scars result from two types of tissue response to the inflammation of acne: (1) increased tissue formation, and (2) loss of tissue.

Increased Tissue FormationThe scars caused by increased tissue formation are called keloids or hypertrophic scars. The word hypertrophy means “enlargement” or “overgrowth.” Both hypertrophic and keloid scars are associated with excessive amounts of the cell substance collagen. Overproduction of collagen is a response of skin cells to injury. The excess collagen becomes piled up in fibrous masses, resulting in a characteristic firm, smooth, usually irregularly-shaped scar. Keloids tend to “run in the family”—that is, there is a genetic predisposition to form keloids after tissue injury. African-Americans often have a predisposition to keloid formation. Some families also tend to form hypertrophic acne scars or thickened acne scars.

Acnezine, the natural medication for acne treatment serves a major role reducing such types of acne.

Acne Scars Resulting From Loss of TissuesAcne scars resulting from loss of tissue are more common than scars resulting from increased tissue formation. There are several types:Ice-pick acne scars get their name from their appearance. They may be superficial or deep, are usually small in diameter and have steep sides like an ice-pick wound. They may be hard or soft to the touch; the soft acne scars are usually more superficial and the hard scars deeper. The base of hard scars under the skin may be wider than the scar at the surface of the skin.Depressed fibrotic acne scars are usually large scars that have sharp margins and steep sides. They are similar in appearance to deep chicken pox scars.Superficial and deep soft acne scars are variable in size, and have sloping edges that merge with normal skin.

Follicular macular atrophy is more likely to occur on the chest or back of a person with acne. These are small, white, soft lesions, often barely raised above the surface of the skin—somewhat like whiteheads that didn’t fully develop. This condition is sometimes also called “perifollicular elastolysis.” The lesions may persist for months to years.

There are many types of treatment to cure Acne. But Acnezine is a natural acne removal medication with no side effects!

Hugh McInnes asked:

What is Acne?

All acne begins with one basic lesion: the “comedo”, an enlarged hair follicle plugged with oil, dead skin cells and bacteria. It is invisible to the ***** eye and lurks beneath the surface of your skin waiting for the right conditions to grow into an inflamed abrasion. As the skin continues to produce more oil, bacteria flourish within the swollen follicle. The surrounding skin becomes increasingly inflamed as your white blood cells fight against the intruders.

Though all pimples start the same way, they can take many forms and may react differently for different people. The definitions below may be used to help you decide whether or not you should consider seeking medical attention.

The Types of Acne

Essentially, there are two primary types of acne inflamatory and inflammatory. These types of acne are caused by varying factors and appear differently on the skin’s surface.

Non-inflamatory Acne

Closed comedo (whitehead) – If the plugged follicle stays below the surface of the skin, the lesion is called a closed comedo, or whitehead. They usually appear on the skin as small, whitish bumps.

Open comedo (blackhead) – If the plug enlarges and pushes through the surface of the skin, it is called an open comedo, or blackhead. The plug’s dark appearance is not due to dirt, but rather to a buildup of melanin, the skin’s dark pigment.

Inflamatory Acne

Papule - The mildest form of inflammatory acne is the papule, which appears on the skin as a small, firm pink bump. These can be tender to the touch, and are often considered an intermediary step between non-inflammatory and clearly inflammatory lesions.

Pustule – Like papules, pustules are small round lesions; unlike papules, they are clearly inflamed and contain visible pus. They may appear red at the base, with a yellowish or whitish center. Pustules do not commonly contain a great deal of bacteria; the inflammation is generally caused by chemical irritation from sebum components such as fatty free acids.

Nodule or Cyst – This form of inflamatory acne is large in size and usually very painful, nodules are inflamed, pus-filled lesions lodged deep within the skin. Nodules develop when the contents of a comedo have spilled into the surrounding skin and the local immune system responds, producing pus. The most severe form of acne lesion, nodules may persist for weeks or months, their contents hardening into a deep cyst. Both nodules and cysts often leave deep scars.

Acne Conglobata – This rare but serious form of inflammatory acne develops primarily on the back, buttocks and chest. In addition to the presence of pustules and nodules, there may be severe bacterial infection.

Alien asked:

Acne is the inflammatory disease of the sebaceous glands and hair follicles of the skin that is marked by the eruption of pimples or pustules, especially on the face. In brief, a few simple steps occur that cause skin blemishes.

Reports show that over 90 percent of all adolescents and almost 25 percent of all adults are acne sufferers. And although acne affects about 50 percent of all adult women, acne does affect males and females worldwide, regardless of nationality.

Stages Of Acne

First, acne occurs due to some unknown causes of acne or combination of causes of acne, the hair follicles, also known as pores get blocked. The exact combination of causes for clogged pores may not be fully known.

For teenagers and adults the causes of acne include; genetics, hormones, dietary and vitamin deficiency and stress related factors.

Other causes of acne could include factors like how your body normally rids itself of its dead skin cells and influences that may be working against this regularity and your hormones and their effect on your own body’s sebum production, especially in women.

Second, the normal dead skin cells when it drains through the skin’s surface after combining with your body’s natural sebum oil becomes clogged in these blocked pores. This substance becomes somewhat sticky, further clogging the passageway.

Third, around these clogged areas, bacteria begin to grow. As a normal reaction, your body’s white blood cells attack the bacteria, fighting it and pushing it out of the body.

And fourthly, the microcomedones are the resulting growths during this 14-day to 21-day battle. These microcomedones convert into comedones, which are commonly referred to as blemishes, pimples or acne.

Types Of Acne

There are basically four types of acne

* Whiteheads

* Blackheads

* Pimples and nodules

1. Whiteheads

Whiteheads are when the resulting bacteria and sebum (oil) are trapped below the skin’s surface and you can actually see a white head emerge above or near the skin.

2. Blackheads

Blackheads are when the resulting bacteria and sebum are only partially trapped, slowly emerging out the skin surface and turning black because of your skin’s melanin or pigmentation.

3. Pimples And Nodules

Generally smaller pimples appear in the absence of either white or blackhead. And the nodules are referred to often deeper, boil-like lesions.

All forms of acne can be mild, moderate or severe. Typically, in form of whiteheads, blackheads and sometimes in the form of pimples and nodules, mild acne is visible. With moderate acne, more pimples and pustules appears on the face And some may appear on the back or chest.

And many nodules develop, often large and sore, over parts of the face, back, chest and other body areas with severe acne. This type of acne can lead to scarring. Actually, scarring has followed lesser cases of acne.

So for those with possible nodular acne, it is recommended to seek advice from a healthcare provider as soon as possible.

A gender issue to note is that due to the hormones, males more often have the severe form of acne rather than females. And the areas where they tend to break out most frequently are unfortunately more difficult to treat, the chest and back.

Dean Erickson asked:

Acne is not just acne. There are several types of acne, each requiring a different type of treatment for it to be effective. It is important that yours is correctly diagnosed. Some are mild forms, that are easily treated, but the more severe forms can be difficult to clear up and can also be disfiguring to your skin.

Acne Vulgaris

The most common type of acne is known as acne vulgaris (meaning common acne), which is characterized by whiteheads, blackheads, nodules, cysts, papules and pustules. This type of acne is normally mild but can turn severe in an adult.

Whiteheads develop as the result of the blocking of a pore in your skin. Sebum (oil), dead skin cells and bacteria, which would normally be expelled through the pore, build up and form that white appearance. Whiteheads often dry up and disappear by themselves, while blackheads tend to be more persistent. With a blackhead the pore is only partially blocked, and therefore partially drains. Hence, it tends not to burst and and lasts for a longer period of time. The black spot is not caused by dirt but by a reaction with the melanin pigment in the skin.

A pustule is more painful and inflamed than a whitehead, and is commonly called a zit. A papule has no white or black head, but takes the form of an inflamed lump on your skin and under no circumstances should it be squeezed. This can cause scarring.

Nodules and cysts are associated with severe forms of acne vulgaris, and require professional medical treatment. Squeezing these will almost certainly cause scarring and possible infection. Nodules are large painful hard lumps under the skin, and cysts are similar but filled with pus. A cyst can be about a quarter inch in diameter and cause extensive scarring if it bursts. Medical treatment can help to reduce the inflammation.

Although it is sensible to keep your skin clean, don’t overdo it because if you wash off the protective skin oils, you can cause even more serious problems. Oil free cosmetics should also be used. Acne vulgaris can be treated using antibiotics and a range of skin creams designed for the condition. Laser treatment can be used on more severe cases.

Acne Rosacea

Acne rosacea and acne vulgaris frequently look the same and are often confused. However, while vulgaris can affect any part of your body, mainly the face, back and chest, rosacea is predominantly found on the face and forehead. It takes the appearance of a red rash often containing pimples and bumps in the skin. Since treatment is different from acne vulgaris, medical help is needed to identify the type of acne you have.

Other Types

These are the two most common types of acne. There are other types, which are rare, but and require medical treatment if you contract them. Acne Congloba is a severe type of acne vulgaris, occurring mainly in adult males, and consists of many interconnected lesions. It is also characterized with a large number of blackheads, on the face, chest, upper arms, thighs and buttocks and is treated with isotretinoin. Treatment is not always immediately successful, but does tend to have an effect over time.

Acne Fulminans is a type of acne conglobata that occurs very rapidly in young men, and it commonly causes severe scarring. Symptoms include aching joints and a fever. Pyoderma Faciale normally affects only the faces of adult females, and forms large nodules and pustules that can cause scarring. With proper care and treatment however, it generally disappears within a year.

Finally, Gram-Negative Folliculitis is a form of acne caused by bacteria, and is very rare. It is believed to occur after long term treatment of acne vulgaris, and its cause is generally unknown. Antibiotics are effective with this type of acne.

There are several types of acne, and it is important that you not only recognize it for what it is, but that you seek medical advice. Sometimes it is difficult to tell the difference between them, especially at onset. The quicker the treatment begins, the less severe the scarring is likely to be.

Bart Icles asked:

When it comes to acne, there are three major types of acne. There are a number of very rare forms that one might get at one point or another throughout their life, but the experts divide the others into these three: comedonal acne, acne vulgaris, and cystic acne. If you have acne, chances are, you have one of these forms.

The first type of acne that you should familiarize yourself with is comedonal acne. This type of acne consists of whiteheads and blackheads. If you have either of these without the presence of any other form of skin lesions, you have comedonal acne. This is the mildest form of acne and most people throughout their lives experience this type of acne. If you have had comedonal acne, chances are, you will develop the next type of acne that I want to discuss and that is acne vulgaris.

If you have a mix of comedones (white and blackheads), papules, and pustules, you have acne vulgaris. Acne vulgaris is also known as common acne. You know you have acne vulgaris if you have blackheads, whiteheads, bumpy red pimples, and big pus pimples all over your face and sometimes your body.

Acne vulgaris is the most common form of acne known to man. It actually affects about 90% of all people who suffer from acne. This form of acne can be mild, moderate, or very severe, depending on the number of lesions you have or how inflamed those lesions are on your face and body.

The third type of acne that you should know about is called cystic acne. This is by far the most severe form of acne that a person can get during their life. You will know you have this form if you have comedones, pauples, pustules, and lots of cysts. Because cysts are caused by sever inflammation and possible infection, cystic acne will be very painful for those who happen to have it.

This worse part about this form of acne is if it is left untreated, the inflammation and infection can damage the surrounding skin tissue. Most times, these cysts can leave people with permanent scaring in the area where the cysts were.

As you can clearly see, acne is no laughing matter. Those who suffer from it, suffer from a constant battle in keeping their skin clear of these blemishes. With proper ****** care, you can keep your acne under control and prevent painful cysts and possible scaring.

Juliet Cohen asked:

Acne affects all people of all ages from all walks of life. It makes no exceptions. Acne is commonly known as pimple or zit. Acne is a skin condition which is common across the globe. These factors clog the pores and the result is acne. This is mainly because of hormone level fluctuations and increased sebum production. This is mainly found on the various parts of the body such as back, face, shoulders, neck and chest. It develops when the pores on your skin get plugged. This happens due to the action of hormones and other substances on your skin’s oil glands. It is the most common among teenagers in puberty, but can also affect infants, teenagers and adults alike. It is also not limited to any creed or race. One of the major causes of acne is increase in hormones known as androgens. This is caused in both boys and girls during the period of puberty and makes the sebaceous glands enlarge and creates more sebum. Another cause of acne is heredity which can be inherited from parents. The skin lesions formed by acne can take on several forms, with the most common type known as acne vulgaris. While skin lesions are most frequently found on the the face, they may also be present on the chest, back, shoulders and upper arms

Actually, acne is such a common condition that it affects approximately 85% people between the ages of 12 and 24. 25% of this 85% suffer from acne in other places besides the face. Many teens will withdraw from social activities and will often feel anger and frustration. As a matter of fact, acne can be so severe that you can be forced to seek medical help, which is done by at least 40% of all acne sufferers. Acne scars result from two types of tissue response to the inflammation of acne: (1) increased tissue formation, and (2) loss of tissue. Both may leave behind acne scar. Scars caused by increased tissue formation are caused by a build up of collagen in the skin. These are called hypertrophic and keloid scars. For many teenagers acne can result in feelings of depression and a lower self-esteem. It usually clears up within a year. Rosacea is called “adult acne.” It usually appears in patients over 30 and causes a rash on the cheeks, forehead, nose, and chin. Pimples and other skin blemishes may also occur. It is more common in females than males, but men usually have more severe symptoms. There are many myths among public on acne prevention. Many people do various things like – scrubbing face all day, eating various foods, avoiding sweat, exercising, and so on. But, in reality, these have nothing to do with preventing acne.

Severe Types of Acne is men and women. First is Nodules are larger than other types of acne. These are hard lumps which form beneath the surface of the skin causing pain and discomfort. Nodules are particularly vulnerable to scarring, so should be treated by a dermatologist. Second is Cysts are also a more severe type of acne. They are similar to nodules except they are filled with pus and can be extremely painful. Cysts are also likely to cause scars, and should be treated by a dermatologist. Third is Conglobata is a rare type of Acne Vulgaris which causes extreme disfigurement. It is characterized by large lesions and blackheads on the face, chest, back, buttocks, upper arms, and thighs. It is extremely painful and can cause psychological suffering, as well as lead to permanent scarring. Fourth is Acne Conglobata can last for several years and is more common in males than females. Fifth is Gram-Negative Folliculitis is a condition associated with the long-term use of antibiotics. It is a bacterial infection which causes pustules and cysts to form on the skin. Six is Pyoderma Faciale-This type of acne only affects adult females, most of whom have never before had acne. Large painful pustules, nodules and cysts form on the face which can cause permanent scarring.

Treatment of Various types of Acne

Resorcinol – This is helpful in breaking down the whiteheads and blackheads.

Benzoyl Peroxide –It is helpful in reducing production of oil and destroys the bacteria P.acnes.

Sulfur – It breaks down the whiteheads and blackheads.

Salicylic Acid –It also eliminates the shedding of cells which are under the hair follicles.

Light therapy and acupuncture are two natural remedies that have their fans. Light therapy is expensive, but for many very helpful. It involves treatments of light in wavelengths that many believe kills bacteria.

Joey River asked:

Each of us wishes to have a smooth and clear skin. Pimples and Acne destroy this dream of smooth and clear skin. However, we start searching of remedies once we think things have gone out of hand.

Acne formation can take place on any part of the body, but the most affected parts are chest, back and unfortunately face. You should start treating acne consciously instead of starting use of over the counter products, of whose chemical composition you have no knowledge about. This is reason you should gain all those things you require to know about acne before you start treating it.

Acne should be treated as a health problem and not merely a skin problem. Acne appears in teenagers and adults as well. There are different types of acne and so there are equally different types of acne treatments.

Each one of us has a different condition; some people might have mild and moderate acne. Mild acne can also be referred to as non-inflammatory acne. This type of acne includes formation of white heads and black heads on skin, mild acne can be easily treated and removed from your daily life. For acne treatment of mild acne, all you require doing is washing your face with warm water and soap at least twice a day. Using exfoliating soap would be the best. Acne treatment for you would be using cleansers to cleanse your skin so that the pores do not get blocked and skin can breathe easy.

Moderate acne is the one which covers half of your face. Acne treatment for moderate acne can be done at home; however, it is also advisable that you take suggestions of the dermatologist so that he can stop the moderate acne changing to severe acne. Acne treatment can be a combination of treatments for moderate acne. At this stage you can prevent acne becoming severe inflammatory acne.

The doctor might advice you acne treatment in two ways, by making sure that your skin is clean and there are no blocked pores. This acne treatment involves extraction of the blockages and such therapies which will dry out or remove the oils that block the pores.

Acne treatment also might include taking some prescription drugs so that the chances of the acne recurring or becoming a severe type of acne diminish.

Severe acne or inflammatory acne means pimples are larger in size and are filled with pus. These can leave scars and are also painful in some cases. Severe acne can leave permanent scars on the skin. Therefore, it is better that you do not allow your acne to reach this level.

Acne treatment for severe acne is long and complicated. Here the dermatologist does not have to only clean you face, you also requires mending it. He might also need you to go through surgery if you want to get rid of acne scars. Initially, acne treatment for severe acne might comprise of taking some oral medicines and cleansing of skin, surgery might come in quite later when acne has been stopped totally and all that is required to be done is mending the skin.

So you can now classify acne if you have any, so that you can take action against it as soon as possible.

Alisia Friend asked:

Types Of Acne

One of the most common types of acne is what is commonly called the blackhead. A blackhead is formed when pores on the face are blocked- but only partially. This allows bacteria and residue to slowly drain out. Note that the black dot that results is not dirt, but rather the skin’s reaction to oxygen in the affected area. Blackheads are usually longer lasting than other types of acne such as the whitehead.

Similarly, we have the whitehead that is quite close to the blackhead in composition. The whitehead actually blocks the entire pore- not just partially like the blackhead. Oil and bacteria is trapped under the skin, which also gives whiteheads their distinctive color and shape. Whiteheads will usually last longer than blackheads on average.

The papule is another type of acne. The papule doesn’t contain a head to it, and is usually just a red mark on the skin. Papules are generally fairly painful and large in size. It should be noted that one should never squeeze a papule, as it will only get further infected and scarring may result. Instead, one should either wait the papule out or consult a doctor for a cortisone treatment.

Pustules are much like papules, but they differ from them in the sense that they contain a white head to them. They carry the same red inflammation that papules hold, yet also combine the effects of whiteheads. This type of acne is generally quite common among those who do indeed have acne. This type of acne in particular can easily lead to scarring if cared for recklessly.

How To Handle The Different Types Of Acne

For whiteheads and blackheads, it is generally not advised to further inflame or bother the affected area. These smaller lesions on the skin generally go away by themselves without much harm. Whiteheads are generally more noticeable, however, and proper care should be taken if trying to tamper with them.

On the other side of the spectrum, we have papules and pustules. Both types of acne can easily lead to scarring if tampered with. Under no circumstances should papules be aggravated. instead, consult a doctor for a cortisone shot for immediate relief.

If you must extract the contents of any type of acne type, be sure to do so under sterile conditions. Do not force any of the excrement- try to drain the acne as easily as possible. Taking careful steps in the draining process will help ensure that no infection or inflammation spreads. In the end, educating yourself on these four types of acne will help you target your daily acne fighting regime and increase your knowledge on acne in general.
